What are growth areas?

Growth areas are designated regions within Cochise County where future development is encouraged or planned. These areas are typically chosen based on factors such as existing infrastructure, economic potential, and availability of land. They are meant to focus development in specific locations to optimize resource use and manage growth efficiently.

Will the County revise its growth areas map within the 2045 update?

Yes, it has been almost a decade since the County has comprehensively examined the locations of its growth areas. A lot has happened during that time. We anticipate many changes within this section of the Comprehensive Plan Update. These changes will be based on factors such as current infrastructure, land availability, environmental impacts, economic opportunities, and community needs. Public input, demographic projections, and strategic goals will also be considered within our analysis.

What are some benefits of growth management planning?

Some of the benefits of growth management planning include improved infrastructure efficiency, preservation of open spaces and natural resources, enhanced quality of life, reduced traffic congestion, better economic stability, and more predictable and organized development patterns.
